Our Story

After working and living in Hong Kong then the United Arab Emirates for 25 years, we returned to the United States and fell in love with Pawleys Island – its outdoors, amenities, and people! The abundance and variety of nature, not only here along the shore, but throughout the Carolinas led us to envision a store that offers visitors items that reflect this bounty.  A result of this initial idea was the opening of Carolina Nature Nook in November 2021.

Being passionate about the environment and the need for people to connect with nature, Carolina Nature Nook offers gifts for nature lovers of all ages.  Many items also reflect our belief in the personal reward, value, and benefits of experiencing nature through creative, hands-on activities. 

Michelle is not new to retail, as she was a successful entrepreneur in Hong Kong.  Ken has a PhD in Technology and Engineering Education and has worked his entire career as a teacher/teacher educator.  Our combined talents and experiences led to the entire design, build and fit-out of Carolina Nature Nook. 

We welcome visitors to the Carolina Nature Nook, to just browse around, enjoy the items for sale, and connect with nature!
